The architectural concept was based on the brief requirements of creating an iconic building celebrating a positive outlook into the future. The building configuration chosen was inspired to reflect its waterside urban context. The building comprises the slim rectangular vertical part above the four-storey high horizontal plinth, inscribed within the trapezoid shape of the site boundaries. The “sails” on either side reflect the marine theme and refer to the Dockland's immediate surrounding. The design addresses the sustainable, social, and regeneration criteria prescribed in the Dublin Docklands Master Plan. It's iconic and landmark qualities make the building stand out and act as a beacon and gatepost for Dublin City.
